It can never be overemphasized that academic exchange and networking by scholars from these three countries are definitely of utmost importance in fostering an amicable regional order. Since 2011, experts and scholars from Korea University, University of Tokyo, and Tsinghua University have jointly organized the East Asian Community Forum (EACF) as a trilateral exchange mechanism to discuss a wide range of issues and problems, including peace, development, and cooperation in East Asia.  The year 2014 marks the 120th anniversary of the Sino-Japanese War (1894-1895). The lessons of history are worth learning, but the future is more important. ARI Fellowship Program for Northeast Asian Studies   The ARI Fellowship Program for Northeast Asian Studies is designed to provide scholars and doctoral candidates from foreign countries with an opportunity to carry out research on topics related to Northeast Asia at the Asiatic Research Institute, Korea University. Individuals in the fields of the humanities and social sciences who are currently engaged in research and teaching activities related to Northeast Asia are eligible to apply. Priority will be given to foreign nationals working on peace and integration on the Korean Peninsula and in Northeast Asia, particularly to early career researchers who have received their Ph.D. degree within the last five years or doctoral candidates who have completed all academic requirements except their dissertation. The fellowship period is for up to six months. The application deadline is August 11, 2014, and all applicants will be notified about our decision by the end of August.   # Fellowship Grant1.       Summer 2014 Intern Position Available at Asiatic Research Institute (ARI), Korea University     The Asiatic Research Institute is recruiting interns among undergraduate or graduate students with an active interest in East Asia-related research covering politics, economics, society, history, and culture.   About the ARI Founded in 1957, the ARI is the first university-affiliated research center and has been leading in research on the East Asian region, having published series of research and data in over 200 books. In 2008, the National Research Foundation of Korea selected the institute as a government-sponsored Humanities Korea (HK) Center for Northeast Asian Studies, which has for 10 years been ambitiously conducting its research on ‘Northeast Asia’s Transnational Space’. The ARI is located behind the Korea University library in its own building housing more than 30 rooms including research rooms, library, seminar rooms, and conference rooms.   1.
